The Yalp Sona at Central Park, Barry, is the first of its kind to be installed in Wales by the Vale of Glamorgan. It is also the first version to include both Welsh and English language software.

The unit works intuitively via a motion sensor. It challenges players to a variety of games, such as dance competitions and racetracks, with levels increasing in difficulty. The 4×4 metre play floor is also accessible to wheelchair users and can be used by several children at once, making the Sona a great inclusive unit.

“We are excited to welcome this fantastic piece of kit to Central Park and are proud to home the first Welsh-language version of the unit. Yalp’s state-of-the-art design offers a range of exciting and ever-developing games and is the first phase of a series of works to transform the play area.”  Cllr Lis Burnett, Vale council deputy leader and cabinet member for education and regeneration

“I hope that the Sona games are successful, and look forward to the other improvements to Central Park – extending the multi-use games area and improving the children’s play area that were agreed as part of the Central Park consultation, at the start of the year, before the pandemic.”  Ian Johnson, Buttrills Ward Cllr
