Activating Denes Oval with BoxUp

We teamed up with Lowestoft Town Council to prove that the best things in life (and sport) are free. By pairing premium sports courts with the innovative, free-to-use BoxUp equipment lockers, the council have made sure that the only thing residents need to bring is their game face!

Denes Oval is a hub of activity, with 6 hard tennis courts and 8 pickleball courts available to the public for free. However, Lowestoft Town Council knew that specialised equipment, especially for fast-growing sports like pickleball, can be a financial barrier for many.

A recent report by BoxUp shows that 65% of BoxUp users don’t have this equipment available at home. By providing high-quality tennis and pickleball kits at the courtside, the council has transformed the site into an inclusive space where anyone can turn up and play, regardless of budget.

Making Sport Spontaneous

By installing free-to-use sports equipment lockers across Lowestoft, the council are creating free opportunities for physical activity, whether planned or spontaneous. This helps provide individuals with the chance to try something new or even revisit an old hobby, all without spending a single penny. Because when communities get active, they feel and function better.

Our BoxUp lockers at Denes Oval in Lowestoft have been really benenficial, especially with our Pickleball courts. People don't really have Pickleball equipment available to them as it's a growing sport. But with BoxUp, we've seen people coming down to the courts, renting the equipment and trying out the sport. Overall it's been a good benefit to the community!

Encouraging Active Lifestyles

BoxUp at Denes Oval is a testament to Lowestoft Town Council’s success of providing communities with the tools and space to establish active lifestyles. And the impact is spreading! The council have already introduced a 6-locker station at Normanston Park, with an 8-locker station being installed imminently. Continuing to break down the financial barriers to sports one station at a time.
