“I hope that the council and local residents elsewhere in the city will be inspired to look at how play facilities in their area can be refurbished. Every child in the city should have easy access to great play facilities.”

Roseangle Play Park was in urgent need of an upgrade after previous equipment splitting and breaking.

Despite the leafy green appearance of the area, the West End of Dundee does have problems. It was reported that 20% of residents living within the criteria defined as most deprived in Scotland. 21% of children are considered to be living in poverty. Access to outdoor play is limited in this area because of pressure on space in a densely populated area which includes many flats and tenements, many of which have tiny, shared garden spaces. There are over 2,000 school-aged children within 1 kilometre of the play-park. Local nurseries, child-minders and schools would benefit from Roseangle Play Park having an upgrade.

The upgrade to the play space has been extremely well received by local residents and people visiting from the city. The bright blue wet pour makes the FHS Robinia really pop, equipment including a zip wire, bespoke wobble bridge and mound slide.
