Oxhey Park Award Winning Playground

Rewilding

Oxhey Park has won the Hertsmere Service to Sport Award! The awards received over 3,000 votes and were awarded to Oxhey Park only a month after opening. This is such a worthy award winner, it is truly incredible, from the wheeled sports facility to the adventure play and inclusive activities.

Oxhey park is suitable for people of all ages and abilities. Wheelchair users or those with disabilities should be able to enjoy playgrounds and feel like part of the community as every other person. From the changing places facility at the café, ramps, improving routes through the park and play equipment (upright swing, basket swing, wheelchair accessible wheel spin and sensory play equipment).

The new wildflower meadow planting and trees within the site are to encourage new habitats for birds, bats, insects and other wild animals. The planting also helps reconnect people to their surrounding environment.

Since the outbreak of Covid-19 places like this have never been more important, people need places where they can connect with nature, take exercise and also have fun. There is strong evidence that open green spaces have a huge impact on people’s health and well-being. I’m delighted these fantastic, accessible facilities are now open and hope people of all ages enjoy them.
